Why biodiversity is in crisis

A million plant and animal species are threatened with extinction and average population sizes of wildlife have dropped by 69% since 1970. 

The staggering rate of decline is a severe warning that the rich biodiversity that sustains all life on our planet is in crisis.

At the UN Conference on Biodiversity (COP15), world leaders have a once-in-a-decade opportunity to turn things around and secure a nature-positive future for people and the planet.
